Their Story

Suneil Anand was an Indian actor and film director, born to legendary Bollywood star Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik. Born in Zurich, Switzerland on June 30, 1956, while his parents attended the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Suneil grew up in a renowned film family alongside his uncles Vijay Anand and Chetan Anand, both pioneering filmmakers. After earning a degree in Business Administration from American University in Washington, D.C., Suneil pursued an acting career, making his debut in *Anand Aur Anand* in 1984, a film directed by his father. Though he appeared in several films including *Car Thief* (1986), *Main Tere Liye* (1988), and *Master* (2001), his acting career did not achieve significant commercial success. Recognizing his talents lay elsewhere, Suneil transitioned to managing his father's prestigious production company, Navketan Films, where he became actively and deeply involved until his passing. Suneil remained devoted to preserving his father's cinematic legacy and was present when his father's statue was unveiled at the Bandra Bandstand in Mumbai in 2012. He passed away peacefully in London on July 26, 2026, at the age of 70, following a heart attack. He is survived by his mother, Kalpana Kartik, now 94 years old, and his sister Devika.
