Luiz Octavio Pires e Albuquerque Gallotti was a distinguished Brazilian jurist who shaped the nation's legal landscape across nearly five decades of public service. After earning his law degree in 1953, he spent nearly three decades at the Court of Accounts of the Union, where he rose to serve as prosecutor-general before joining the Supreme Federal Court in 1984. During his tenure on Brazil's highest court until 2000, he served as president from 1993 to 1995—a period spanning the nation's democratic transition.
