Their Story
Kirsti Sparboe was a Norwegian singer and actress whose career was significantly shaped by her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Beginning in 1965 when she was just 18 years old, she competed in Eurovision three times, representing Norway with songs including "Karusell," "Dukkemann," and "Oj, oj, oj, så glad jeg skal bli." Her Eurovision journey took her across Europe, and she even participated in the 1970 German Eurovision selection after several Nordic countries withdrew from the competition. Beyond the Eurovision stage, Sparboe built a musical career that found particular success in Germany, where she released numerous singles. She also ventured into acting, appearing in the BBC television production "Jon, Brian, Kirsti And Jon" in 1980. Over her career, Sparboe demonstrated versatility as a performer, recording songs in multiple languages including Norwegian, Swedish, German, and French. She remained a notable figure in European popular music history, remembered for her contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest and her work as an entertainer.
