Their Story
Hans Buzek was one of Austria's greatest strikers and a beloved figure in Viennese football. Beginning his career as a young prodigy with First Vienna, where he spent 13 years and scored an impressive 138 goals in 163 matches, Buzek went on to play for several major Austrian clubs including Austria Wien, Wiener Sportclub, Rapid Wien, and Austria Klagenfurt. By profession a skilled goldsmith, he balanced his craft with a remarkable football career that earned him 42 international caps for Austria and nine goals for the national team. A historic participant in the 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden, Buzek held the distinction of being Austria's last surviving player from that tournament. His legacy extended beyond his playing days, as he served in various administrative roles, including as sports director for First Vienna and coach of the Badener AC.
