Born on October 14, 1944, in Charron, Charente-Maritime, Christian Bujeau was a versatile and beloved French actor whose career spanned more than five decades. He trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique and worked as a stunt performer, stage director, and drama teacher at the Jean Périmony school. Bujeau became widely known through memorable supporting roles. He played Jean-Pierre Goulard, the dentist in the 1993 comedy Les Visiteurs, and worked as the master of arms in the television series Kaamelott, roles that defined his public image. The film Les Visiteurs, directed by Jean-Marie Poiré, placed him inside one of France's best-known comedies of the decade. Beyond these iconic roles, he moved seamlessly between cinema, television, theater, and stunt work throughout his career. As a theater performer, Bujeau appeared in productions featuring works by Sacha Guitry, Eugène Ionesco, Jean Anouilh, Georges Feydeau, and Luigi Pirandello. He was also recognized as a theater director and drama teacher, mentoring generations of French actors. Christian Bujeau died on June 15, 2026, in Charente-Maritime at the age of 81, leaving behind a rich legacy as one of French cinema and theater's most respected supporting players.
