Their Story
Alexander Licht was a German politician who served in the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1991 to 2020, as a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. Born in Brauneberg on 13 September 1952, he worked as a winemaker and came from a wine-growing family tradition. He was chair of the CDU association in Bernkastel-Wittlich for around 30 years and was a member of the district council from 1979 to 2014. Throughout his career, he was a member of the Environment and Foresty, Economic Affairs and Transport, and European Affairs committees during his time in the Landtag. In the Bernkastel-Wittlich district, he served as First Deputy District Administrator since 1998. He married Conny, with whom he had three children, in 1977. Licht died on 9 June 2026 after suffering from an illness.
