Alcides Jesus Peralta Bernal was a Brazilian lawyer, radio broadcaster, and politician who served as the 62nd Mayor of Campo Grande. He began his career as a radio personality, hosting popular programs on Rede MS before entering politics as a city councilor in 2004. Elected state deputy in 2010, he made history by winning the mayoral election in 2012 with 62.55% of votes, becoming one of the most voted-for candidates in the region's democratic history. His political career was marked by significant controversy, including becoming the first mayor of Campo Grande to be impeached in 2014, though he was later reinstated by the courts in 2015 to complete his term. Despite facing numerous legal challenges throughout his life, Bernal remained active in law and broadcasting until his death on July 13, 2026, one day before his 61st birthday. He passed away at Santa Casa hospital following cardiac complications while in preventive detention.
