Their Story
Tamás Horváth was a Hungarian chess International Master, earning his IM title in 1982. In the 1980s, he was one of the top Hungarian chess players, competing frequently in the finals of the Hungarian Chess Championships and winning silver medals in 1980 and 1982. He achieved notable success in international competition, earning team bronze and individual silver medals at the 1983 European Team Chess Championship in Plovdiv. Earlier in his career, he represented Hungary at the 1974 World Student Team Chess Championship in Teesside, where he won team bronze. Throughout his life, Horváth maintained an active presence in chess, later playing for the Zalaegerszegi chess club in the European Chess Club Cup eleven times between 1993 and 2007, representing his country with distinction across multiple decades.
