Their Story

Sharon Dede Padi, popularly known as Padiki, was a groundbreaking Ghanaian visual artist, poet, and cultural advocate whose work celebrated African heritage and natural creativity. Growing up in New Tafo in the Ashanti Region, she discovered her passion for art early, though societal expectations initially led her to pursue architecture at KNUST and a career in project management. Her artistic spirit remained undiminished, eventually flourishing through painting and poetry that explored themes of identity, heritage, and the Ghanaian experience. In 2023, she published her debut book REFLEXIONS, featuring over 100 paintings transformed into poems. Padi achieved international recognition as the first and official Guinness World Record holder for the Largest Leaf Print Painting, completing a 54.33 square-metre work of the Ghana flag using leaves sourced from across the country. This achievement represented not merely personal triumph but a powerful statement celebrating Ghana's natural and cultural identity. As CEO of Padiki Art Gallery, she championed young artists and advocated for affordable art materials and government support for Ghana's creative sector. Padi's legacy extends beyond her artistic accomplishments to her unwavering commitment to empowering women in the arts and reclaiming African aesthetic traditions on the global stage.
