Their Story

Peter van den Bosch, better known as Tony Scott, was a Dutch rapper and musician of Surinamese descent. A Kalina Amerindian born in Suriname, he immigrated with his parents to Amsterdam at a young age. In 1990, Scott released the single "Get Into It", which became his most successful song. He became internationally known for his hip house music, pioneering the innovative fusion of hip-hop and house that would define the late 1980s and early 1990s Dutch music scene. His breakthrough came with his debut single "That's How I'm Living / The Chief" from the album of the same name, followed by two top-10 hits: "Get Into It" and "Love Let Love." He was also recognized for his work on jingles and released a theme song for the Amsterdam Admirals in 1996, frequently recording station jingles for the Amsterdam Funk Channel. After his performing career, Scott worked as a music teacher at the Pieter Nieuwland College in Amsterdam-Oost. He had been diagnosed with MS in 2014, which prompted him to perform in a farewell concert at the Paradiso music venue in 2016.
