Their Story
P. A. Madhavan was a dedicated Indian National Congress politician from Thrissur who served as a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly representing Manaloor Constituency from 2011 to 2016. A document writer by profession since 1967, Madhavan devoted much of his life to socio-political activism, beginning his engagement with social movements at just 13 years old through the Vimochana Samaram student agitations. Over five decades, Madhavan held numerous positions within the Indian Youth Congress and Kerala Congress structures, including District Secretary, District General Secretary, and District President roles. He served as the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Executive Member and All India Congress Committee Member from 2005 to 2012. Beyond party politics, Madhavan was instrumental in labor union leadership, serving as president of various employee unions including those representing textile workers, railway employees, and electricity workers across Thrissur district. Madhavan's involvement in cooperative enterprises and industrial organizations demonstrated his commitment to workers' rights and economic development. He was also recognized for his role as Thrissur District Panchayat Leader of Opposition from 2000 to 2005. He is survived by his wife Savithri and son Sameer, leaving behind a legacy of grassroots political engagement and labor activism in Kerala.
