Margaret “Maggie” Rose Whitman devoted her life to nurturing others — whether as a mother, nurse, or friend. She worked over three decades in the pediatric wing of St. Luke’s Hospital, where she became a comforting presence to frightened children and worried parents alike. Her soft voice, warm hands, and intuitive care turned moments of pain into pockets of peace. Maggie was the kind of person who remembered birthdays, brought soup to the sick, and left notes of encouragement tucked into lunchboxes and lockers. Her family often joked that she had a sixth sense for knowing when someone needed love — and she always delivered it in just the right way. Outside the hospital walls, Maggie found her peace in the earth. Her backyard garden was a patchwork of color and calm — roses, lavender, sunflowers, and tomatoes danced together under her careful tending.
