Their Story
Kyle Charles Calder was a former National Hockey League forward whose relentless style of play and determination earned him admiration across North America. Born in Canada, Calder developed a passion for hockey at an early age and began his journey with the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League, where his talent quickly became apparent as he established himself as a skilled forward capable of producing offensively while playing with grit and determination. After scoring 59 points in his sophomore season, he was drafted in the fifth round of the 1997 draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. Calder spent the bulk of his career with that franchise, appearing in 359 regular-season games and recording 210 points (85 goals and 125 assists). His most productive season came in 2005–06, when he set career highs with 26 goals, 33 assists, and 59 points in 79 games for Chicago. Over his NHL career, Calder suited up for five teams, including stints with the Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks, accumulating 294 points (114 goals and 180 assists) in 590 regular-season games. The news of his passing was confirmed by his daughter, Madison Calder. Following his playing career, he worked as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
