Their Story

K. Ali Kutty Musliyar was a respected Indian Islamic scholar and spiritual leader from Kerala who dedicated his life to advancing Islamic education and jurisprudence. Born in Thirurkad in 1945, he completed his post-graduate studies in Islamic Studies from Jami'ya Nooriya Arabic College in 1968 and went on to become one of Kerala's most influential religious scholars. As General Secretary of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama—the principal body of Sunni Shafi'i scholars in northern Kerala—he led one of the largest Muslim organizations in South India, succeeding the renowned Cherussery Zainuddeen Musliyar in this position. Throughout his distinguished career, Musliyar held multiple leadership roles, serving as principal of Jami'ya Nooriya Arabic College and president of several other Islamic educational institutions. He was appointed Qazi (Islamic jurist) of Kasaragod and recognized internationally for his exceptional expertise in Islamic jurisprudence, earning membership in the International Fiqh Council under the Muslim World League. His contributions to Islamic education, institutional development, and scholarly discourse made him a pivotal figure in shaping the religious and educational landscape of Muslim Kerala for decades.
