Their Story

Julio Revuelta Altuna was a Spanish architect and politician who served his community in Logroño for decades. A member of the People's Party, he began his public service as a city councillor in 1991 and rose to become mayor from 2000 to 2007, a tenure during which he oversaw several significant architectural projects that shaped the city's development. His commitment to public life extended beyond his mayoral term; in recognition of his contributions to Logroño, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the City in 2024, a prestigious honor reflecting his lasting impact on the community he served. In the latter phase of his political career, Revuelta founded his own political party, Ciudadanos de Logroño, in advance of the 2011 election, demonstrating his continued engagement in regional politics. The party was subsequently absorbed into the Riojan Party, and he served as the party's lead candidate in the 2019 regional election. Throughout his life, Revuelta balanced careers in architecture and politics, leaving a mark on both the built environment and the civic life of his city.
