Their Story
Igor Protti was an accomplished Italian professional footballer known for his prolific goal-scoring ability and penalty-area expertise during a career spanning several decades. Beginning his football journey with his hometown club Rimini in 1983, Protti went on to represent numerous top-tier Italian clubs including Lazio and Napoli, but earned his legendary status during his tenure with Livorno, where he became an iconic figure in the club's history. His striking prowess was recognized across multiple divisions of Italian football—he achieved the remarkable distinction of winning the top scoring title in Serie A, Serie B, and Serie C1, a feat shared with only one other player, Dario Hübner. Notably, Protti holds the unique record of being the only Serie A top-scorer to have experienced relegation with his club. After retiring from active play, he remained connected to the sport by serving as general manager for Livorno, continuing his contributions to the club where he had achieved his greatest playing success.
