Cornelis Pieter "Cees" Geel was a celebrated Dutch actor whose career spanned television, radio, and film for several decades. Born in Schagen in 1965, he built a substantial body of work across drama, comedy, and historical productions, gaining initial recognition in the late 1990s with supporting and leading roles. He became a household name in 2004 with his powerful lead performance in Simon, directed by Eddy Terstall, for which he earned the Golden Calf for Best Actor and the Tribeca Film Festival's Jury Award for Best Actor in a Narrative Feature the following year. His notable film credits included Anne Frank: The Whole Story (2001) and Too Fat Too Furious, along with countless television and theatrical appearances. Beyond acting, Geel established himself as a skilled voice-over artist and narrator, lending his voice to animated works, commercials, and reality television programs throughout his career. He passed away on July 14, 2026, from cardiac arrest at the age of 61.
